A Revibe Introduction

Hello my name is Noel McMillin and I am one of the members of the Revibe planning team. I am also the person who one Sunday night at bible study asked, "What if we put on a Christian music concert in Waverly?"

The question came up after we talked about "doing". I knew our bible study group was being called to action by God, just like everyone else. We knew we had grown complacent and comfortable. It’s easy to do when we have everything we need. My question and the resounding "yes" from the group put us on this fantastic, God-filled journey just over a year ago.

The Beginning
We started meeting every Sunday evening to plan Revibe 2014. We came in with absolutely no knowledge or experience on how to put on an event like this. We started with virtually nothing. No budget. No bands. No idea on what it might even look like. But when God is on your side there really are no worries, right?

Slowly and surely things began to fall into place. Local businesses, churches, and individuals started to jump on board with financial support (we are blessed to live in this community). We were able to book some local bands and well-known speakers.

We knew early on that we not only wanted to bless the community with music and speakers but wanted give back in other ways. We agreed to partner with Northeast Iowa Food Bank and Compassion International and by the end of the day we were able to donate over 400 pounds of food and sponsor over 30 children from the Philippines and Haiti. It was nearly a perfect day with easily over 500 people in attendance. God is good!

2015 Lineup
Revibe 2014 did not disappoint nor will Revibe 2015. It will be bigger and better! Jason Gray is our headliner and I have heard nothing but great things about his live show. He's a mainstay on Christian Radio and it is impossible to not sing along with his songs.

Rob Roozeboom from Rise Ministries is our keynote speaker. Rob was one of my first contacts last year when seeking advice for Revibe. Rob has a full time ministry and part of that ministry is Risefest, a huge 2-day Christian music concert in Sheldon, IA.

Kendra Smiley is also speaking. If the name sounds familiar it is because she has a syndicated radio show and you can hear her on Life 101.9 daily, “helping you make the next right choice." Jessica Mathews, our headlining band from last year, is returning also after recording her first album this May.

Local and Global Impact
This year, we are going to be collecting gently used clothes for Trinkets & Togs, a local thrift store with an incredible mission of assisting people with disabilities and the elderly. We also plan to help build a well in Africa through the organization Water to Thrive through pledges made by people in Kohlmann park that day. Both organizations have strong ties to the Waverly and Wartburg communities and we are extremely excited to accomplish our mission by helping them reach theirs.

Eternal Impact
I really don't know where Revibe will be in five years. What I do know in my heart is we are being called and we are being obedient. We all see God's handiwork in this event.

We want it to be a day of worship.
A day for people to see a glimpse of what God's grace and mercy look like.
A day for the lost to be found.
A day that has the power to change the trajectory of lives in this community.
A day that starts a revival.

It is my prayer that anyone reading this blog will find themselves at Kohlmann Park on September 12th.

Be blessed.
-Noel
